Chris Rock to MC Next Oscar Awards Show?

Although the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is declining to comment right now, word on the streets is that comedian Chris Rock is being courted to return for the second time and host the Oscars. It’s been ten years since Rock hosted the show, the last time being in 2005 when Hilary Swank and Million Dollar Baby made the most noise during the telecast.

Last year’s telecast was one of the lowest rated in years, and that means that more than likely Neil Patrick Harris will not be returning. There is also speculation of multiple hosts. Does that mean Tina Fey and Amy Poehler might be teaming up to host possibly? Oscar producer David Hill weighed in…

“There will be multiple hosts for sure – there will be two. We have absolutely talked about duos. We’ve talked about a lot of different configurations. But we’re still very much in the brainstorming phase.”

Next year’s 88th ceremony takes place on February 28th, 2016.
