I know they’re out there, and you know they’re out there, but for the general public that has their head up their asses, along comes screen star Evan Rachel Wood to shed some light on being bisexual and the woes that come with it. Since coming out as bisexual in 2011, she has had a lot to say on the subject and shows no signs of slowing down. With Bisexual Awareness Week approaching on September 20th, Wood went on an educational Twitter rampage, with the following quotes

“The reality is that bisexual people face discrimination not only outside of our community, but also from within. And that can discourage them from engaging in and benefiting from the work that LGBT advocates are doing to address our mental, physical and sexual health.”

“Bisexual adults have double the rate of depression than heterosexual adults, and are more likely to engage in self-harming behavior, including attempting suicide.”

“Bisexual people are the largest single group within the LGBT community, yet we are hardly recognized.”

“Remember, bisexuality doesn’t mean halfway between gay or straight. It is its own identity.”

“Point being, its ok. We do exist. Don’t let anyone make you feel unworthy. No one knows your journey but you. “
