Has it been nearly twenty years since Drew Barrymore became her generation’s ‘scream queen’ with the first theatrical movie Scream?

 

Well, the movie that spawned a new wave of horror movies that paid homage to the original horror movies made in the late 70s and 80s has returned with a vengeance, this time to television.

 

MTV is bringing back Scream in a big way and with Wes Craven executive producing, we may be slightly intrigued where this could be headed.

Premiering June 30th, this version involves a new swarm of teenagers that will be picked off by a serial killer, but this time a new mask is involved. Says Wes Craven….

 

“The new mask is cool and scary and takes the series into a new direction.  It also ties into the story, which I won’t give away.”
