GlamorSLAP Review: 2020 Golden Globe Awards

The 2020 award (and red carpet) season officially kicked this weekend at the 77th annual Golden Globe Awards. The Golden Globes is always where new stars and old stars alike can let their hair (and lacefronts) down, kick back some significant amounts of alcohol and play up their fashion selections.

TV And Silver Screen Stars Rubbing Elbows

From streaming channels and conventional ones to the big screen, all the stars were out and about on Sunday, with host Ricky Gervais verbally slapping everyone in the room at least once. But more importantly, who destroyed the red carpet and will have their names in the papers for at least the next 72 hours? GlamorSLAP has some picks that stood out!

Billy Porter

If Mr. Porter is in attendance, these other Heauxz better watch out because he is always going to come T H R O U G H! And through he did, and in all white, no less, in a Alex Vinash ensemble complete with Jimmy Choo boots, and dripping baby, – D R I P P I N G in Tiffany. Category: SLAY-age!

JOEY KING

Ms. King served it this weekend in classic Iris Van Herpen dress and the iconic jewelry of Harry Winston. With her hair tied black and sleek, she had few others to contend with her this year on the red carpet. And she KNEW that!

KERRY WASHINGTON

Ms. Washington was not one to be ignored this year, and with her girls out and heavily featured in this Altuzarra ensemble, all eyes were on her. When it came to this year’s red carpet? Believe us when we say: It’s been H A N D L E D!

ZOEY DEUTCH

Zoey represented for the young Hollywood set and she let them know that she is not one to be slept on! In this canary yellow Fendi jumpsuit Harry Winston drip, she floated down the red carpet and #LetThemKnow. Slay, Miss Thang!

ANA DE ARMAS

Ana has star power and the wattage is blinding us. And the best part is that she’s just getting started! Draped in Ralph & Russo gown and Tiffany jewels, it is only a matter of time before everyone knows her name. Give it another year, folx! She’s coming for US!

SAOIRSE RONAN

Saoirse has finally come into her own on the red carpets, and she begins the awards season in high fashion in Celine dress – a simple chic combination that no one can pick apart. Sis’ deliverT!

MICHELLE WILLIAMS

Usually, Michelle bores us with her red carpet looks, but this time, she chose just the right hue and just the right ‘do to elevate her name and make the list. But it’s hard to go wrong in a Louis Vuitton dress and Tiffany jewels!

CATE BLANCHETT

Cate rarely makes a misstep on a red carpet, and this year was no exception. Putting Heauxz to shame in a Mary Katrantzou gown and Pomellato jewellery, she showed why she has been a style maven for over a decade. And counting…

NATASHA LYONNE

We are in L O V E with Ms. Lyonne and she broke our hearts even more this year, giving us significant seduction in this custom-made Moschino couture dress and Jimmy Choo heels that had us all glad this Russian Doll has come back to Hollywood with a vengeance!

DA’VINE JOY RANDOLPH

Remember this name and face because this red carpet season, she’s going to be destroying the red carpet. This weekend, she chose a Christian Sirihano gown to get the party started. No detractors here. No way, not today!

OLIVIA COLMAN

She’s supreme at playing queens, and the red carpet looks grand on Ms. Colman, who brought big sleeves back to the red carpet this year in a big way in this Emilia Wickstead gown. Yasss!

Dishonorable Mention

GWYNETH PALTROW

We don’t know WHAT the hell Gwynnie was thinking when she chose this frock o’ f*ckery, but she should have left it on the flapper floor. File this one under ‘When Bad Dresses Happen to Mediocre People’
