Michael Strahan has left Live With Kelly and Michael as people joke that she can’t keep a black man. Now the talk is centering around who will replace Strahan and it may come down to the gays of Ripa’s life.
According to sources close to the negotiations already underway, there are a long list of potential candidates for the seat, but two names that are at the top of the list are also good friends with Kelly herself.
When replacing Regis Philbin in 2011, the producers had plenty of men in the hot seat, including Seth Myers, Neil Patrick Harris, Jeff Probst, and even Ripa’s husband Mark Consuelos.
This time around, Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen are at the top of the heap, with both men allegedly vying for the chair in the morning. A few years ago, Cooper was doing his own show so he was not in the running, but now he has the option of returning in a permanent role. Another option producers are considering is taking several months of auditions before finally settling on one man to assume the role. With Strahan leaving at the end of the summer, the show has plenty of time to fill some big shoes.
