She may have missed out on an Oscar nomination for ‘Selma’, but it looks like the rest of Hollywood definitely took notice of her efforts.

Selma’ director Ava DuVernay is reportedly in talks with Marvel to helm one of their upcoming superhero movies. According to sources, she is set to helm either ‘Black Panther’ or ‘Captain Marvel’, which are both set to debut in 2018. When officially announced, it will make her the first black woman to direct a major superhero movie. When asked about directing a comic book movie a few months ago, DuVernay had this to say:

“I’m not a big comic book fan, but I know I love to deconstruct heroes, deconstruct myths. I probably want to do some origin story.”

Since both of these are set to be origin stories, this may be right up her alley.
