Sister Act: The Remake

We’ve waited over twenty years and since everything else is being re-made, re-done, and re-mastered, it only makes sense that this cash cow has been taken out of the barn, dusted off, and re-vamped for a new generation.

According to reports, the movie that made Whoopi Goldberg one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, Sister Act, is currently in the works for a remake. There is no word yet on if Whoopi Goldberg will be involved in the latest version of the Disney classic, but it is already known that the director of Cinderella, Alli Shearmur, has been chosen to produce the movie.

In the original, Goldberg played a Vegas chanteuse that must hide out in a nunnery to avoid a mafia hit. The original became an international blockbuster, spawned a sequel that featured a young Lauryn Hill, and was later turned into a Broadway musical.

So who will replace Goldberg if they recast her role?

We think this is a role that Melissa McCarthy should be tapped for.
