Levi Pettit, one of the ringleaders in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon circus chant, which went viral on March 9, just issued an apology. The problem with his apology is that it reeks of insincerity and like my grandmother used to say…live sports time
He could have kept that.
As he corralled as many black people as possible behind for this orchestrated UN-apologetic apology, VS could not help but ponder the following…
WHERE did he find all these black people?
HOW did he even find the means to drum up a press conference?
A few snippets from his obviously pre-written speech from a legal team…
“THERE ARE NO EXCUSES FOR MY BEHAVIOR. I NEVER THOUGHT OF MYSELF AS A RACIST AND NEVER CONSIDERED IT A POSSIBILITY. BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS, THE WORDS SAID IN THAT CHANT WERE MEAN, HATEFUL AND RACIST.”
He has probably never had this many black people around him in his life…
“SOME HAVE WONDERED WHY I HAVEN’T SPOKEN OUT PUBLICLY. THE TRUTH IS THAT I’VE HAD A MIX OF PAIN, SHAME, SORROW, AND FEAR OVER THE CONSEQUENCES OF MY ACTIONS.”
“TO HEAR THE WORDS THAT I’M A RACIST OR BIGOT MAY SEEM LOGICAL AFTER SEEING MY FACE AND HEARING ME PARTICIPATE IN A MINDLESSLY SICKENING CHANT. HOWEVER, WHAT YOU AND OTHERS SAW ON THAT VIDEO IS NOT WHO I REALLY AM, NOT WHO I WAS RAISED TO BE, AND NOT WHO I THINK OF MYSELF TO BE.”
The speech lacked lots, but the most astonishing aspect of his apology was that it lacked less depth than a Kardashian hole and it all seemed like a ploy to ensure that when he runs for Congress in 2026, he will have this as proof that he paid his dues. The next time Pettit has a faux pas of this magnitude he needs to make a note to himself:
Hire a better PR team.
He needs that type of grandeur as he is probably running for Senate one day.
So when he comes back to prominence in a few years, remember this foolishness and f*ckery for what it was and …
This apology is NOT accepted.
