Abe Vigoda Has Passed Away

The running gag that made him famous beyond his many roles has finally come into fruition. Abe Vigoda, veteran actor, has passed away.

Working steadily throughout his career, Vigoda worked in several theatre productions and television roles (including hit show Barney Miller) before being cast as Sal Tessio in the Academy Award-winning mobster epic The Godfather, one of the roles that made him recognizable and forever cemented in the annals of Hollywood history.

A report that falsely stated the actor was dead brought him back into prominence, which Vigoda parlayed into cult status for the last twenty-plus years. According to his daughter, he died from natural causes.

Abe Vigoda was 94 years old.
