Director James Wan, who is still riding high from the box office success of Furious Seven, has just been announced as the director for the upcoming DC Comics adaptation of Aquaman, King of the Seven Seas. Starring Jason Momoa and tying into the Superman, Batman, and other characters in the DC universe, the movie is slated for a 2018 release.
In next year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Momoa is expected to make an appearance as the trident-wielding god. Says Momoa about the casting…
“The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole backstory that’s just amazing. There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside in the past. But, times are going to change now, buddy. We don’t want to just reinvent it, but Zack Snyder has got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I’m really honored to be playing it. I’m excited for the world to see it.”
Stay tuned for further updates.
