Sarah Paulson, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, Chloe Sevigny, Kathy Bates, Wes Bentley, Cheyenne Jackson, and more…
Read that list and it is almost a given that an actor could do a lot worse when it comes to co-stars. With a cast the boasts such impressive resumes, acting awards from Broadway to Academy Awards and beyond, there is a reason why Lady Gaga, pop princess of the moment, chose to make her biggest splash yet in American Horror Story.
She’s no fool.
According to reports, the singer and burgeoning actress approached Ryan Murphy about appearing on the show. And to prove that her acting is not to be taken as a fluke, she expressly demanded that her role not involve singing. Unlike most singers that look to dip their toes into the acting pool, Lady Gaga is going balls deep and truly going for it.
American Horror Story: Hotel, the fifth season of the hit anthology series, is sure to divide fans who were eager to see Jessica Lange return. What must be noted, however, is that the fifth season of a show is the one where shows cruise towards syndication status, contract negotiations are re-upped, and money can truly be made. After having a limited budget for the first few seasons, the FX show has been given a bigger budget by the season and it is only fitting that Ryan Murphy and his cast receive the checks they so deserve.
Gaga has presence, yes. But can she really act?
Whether or not Lady Gaga succeeds is no question, as she is in good hands from all angles. The only question now is how big the viewership numbers will be once the show debuts in October. As American Horror Story continues to expand its fanbase, the little monsters that adore pop’s biggest sensation since that other ambitious blonde are poised to make the next edition in the series some new history.
