Sheila E. Pays Final Respects to Prince

As an icon in her own right and a pioneer for female musicians, Sheila E. is giving insight into her good friend Prince’s private ceremony to honor the late music legend.

Since shocking the world with his untimely death at the age of 57, rumors and gossip have run rampant, but the most important thing to remember is what he left the world, according to Sheila E. The musician was one of the few to gather for the private gathering of his cremation on Friday. Of the ceremony, she stated:

“It was very somber, quiet. We were playing his songs, his music at a very low volume and it was hard to hear. Some songs were harder than others to listen to. Later on, we kind of said, ‘Wow. We could sit here for probably weeks or a month and listen to all the songs he recorded and not duplicate one song. You can’t really say that with any other artist that has that much music. It was hard. A lot of crying, a lot of grieving.”

We may have lost him, but he lives on through his music. Thank you for the music Prince.
