The Great Game is a band that draws upon a variety of divergent influences to fashion a sound that is representative of each member, merged in a way that elicits a melting pot of sound. The end result is a conceptual album that makes for a distinct sound that breaks past preconceived notions.


Headed by Belgian composer and guitarist Mounzer Sarraf, the band takes its inspiration from nearly every corner of the earth, creating a new sonic flavor that sets out to whet the appetites of a diverse group of fans. Formed in 2014, The Great Game celebrates world music on a level atypical of most concept albums. The musicians on this debut hail from all over the world: Europe, The Middle East, North and South America. With such an eclectic group of musicians on hand, this album has nearly something for everyone, and the various cultures can be felt with each track.

Tracks that stand out on this debut effort include ‘Science’, the opening number that merges elements of jazz, funk, and world styles. Rock makes a presence in ‘Bipolaroid’, a scorching track full of attitude that will leave fans of grunge satisfied. ‘Slave Magic’ gives blues fans a taste of what The Great Game is capable of, delivering a solid offering that showcases the musicians capabilities at their fullest. The frenetic sounds heard on this debut prove that this is a band with the talent and experience to go in any direction sonically.
